POSITION: Operations Staff
DEPARTMENT: Operations 
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for Changeover Staff. SMG Richmond manages the Richmond Coliseum, Altria Theater, Richmond CenterStage and Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. The Changeover staff will assist the Operations Supervisor in setup and tear down of numerous events.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Moving, arranging, setting and removal of items needed for events. 
  • Set-up and tear-down of stages, tables, chairs, barricades, linens, and equipment
  • Assembly and disassembly of animal penning.
  • Cleaning and up-keep of buildings including buffing; dusting; sweeping; mopping; vacuuming; washing windows; cleaning toilets, urinals, mirrors, walls, arena seats, and trash cans. 
  • Clean-up during and after events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a bartender and server. The overall objective and purpose of the Bartender/Server position is to provide guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient and graceful service that meets or exceeds guest expectations.  The incumbent is primarily responsible for serving food and beverage in the bar, restaurant and function areas while complying with applicable federal and state laws, sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards as well as following established food and beverage presentation and service procedures.  The candidate is responsible for the safe and appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.  

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in a forward facing customer environment, for both formal and informal events
  • Mix and serve alcoholic beverages as well as food service
  • Take food and drink orders and assure that customers are properly attended to

POSITION: PT Event Staff-Indoor & Outdoor Events REPORTS TO: General Manager or Manager on Duty
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time Hourly/Non-Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for part time event staff at SMG Richmond.  Applicants should be available for up to 20 hours per week.  Staff provides professional client services support in the organization and supervision of events within Bon Secures Washington Redskins Training Camp Facility (a non-smoking facility); monitoring the logistics of these events booking phase through the conclusion, by performing personally or with others  the following duties:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists in all aspects of event operations/fulfillment.
  • Work hand in hand with the various service contractors for assigned meetings and/or events to ensure success of the event
  • Assists with operational set-ups/tear downs.
  • Maintains and promotes customer experience by adhering to SMG Richmond’s policies and procedures of customer service
  • All other necessary duties as assigned.

POSITION: Human Resources Generalist / Executive Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Executive
REPORTS TO: Regional General Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist/Executive Assistant for the SMG Richmond venues. The HRG/ Executive Assistant will provide a variety of administrative and operational support to the General Manager.  This position is also responsible for performing all aspects of Human Resource Operations, as well as administration and maintenance of all facility Benefit Programs, consistent with SMG policies.  

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows SMG Human Resources policies to assure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions. Familiarity with OFCCP
  • Maintains compliance with state regulations concerning employment. Performs recruitment activities. Writes and places advertisements. Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions. Plans and conducts new employee orientations. Familiarity with AAP.
  • Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Coordinates training or trains Managers in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance management, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment. Coordinates training or trains employees in SMG Customer Service Training.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Advises the corporate office of EEOC complaints and other employee relations problems.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Administers performance review and salary administration program.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance. Serves as the COBRA and FMLA Administrator for facility.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Draft letters, reports and other correspondence in a timely, accurate manner. 
  • Receive and screen telephone calls and visitors in a professional manner.  Provide routine information regarding events operations, policies and procedures.
  • Receive, route and file incoming and outgoing correspondence and ensure timely replies and/or action.  Review all correspondence to remain informed of all activities and pertinent information.
  • Conserves executive's time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications.
  • Plan conferences and meetings, make travel reservations and keep calendar of appointments for the General Manager.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records of information such as payroll, attendance, budget, event files and expense reports.
  • Meet with vendors and negotiate contracts for new office equipment, services or materials as needed.
  • Maintain and order all necessary supplies, materials, and services for facility, department and office equipment (i.e., office supplies, stationary, copier, fax machine, postage machine, etc.).
  • Plan special events for facility employees (i.e., holiday events, company picnics. Employee meetings).
  • Has close relationships with civic organizations, local government, promoters and donors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university, 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills essential 
  • Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations required
  • Experience in the entertainment industry preferred
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ADP or HRIS software payroll systems desirable.

POSITION: Payroll Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Payroll Coordinator for SMG Richmond.  Coordinates and prepares payroll for all employees in compliance with state and federal wage and hour requirements and SMG policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process facility payroll for biweekly average of up to 400 employees
  • Process all wage garnishments, deductions and payments for applicable employees
  • Process vacation and sick pay and maintain logs
  • Prepare payroll adjustments
  • Complete and submit Unemployment forms and Employee verifications
  • Prepare manual checks, maintain check log and post to ADP
  • Enter new hire paperwork into the ADP system
  • Process background and credit checks
  • Follow up with managers to ensure complete new hire packets/I9 documentation
  • Assist with payroll, benefit, and accrued liability journal entries
  • Complete departmental filing and clerical duties
  • Assist HR Generalist and Finance department with various projects
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

POSITION: Box Office Manager
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Senior Box Office Manager

Summary Oversees ticket sales and all aspects of box office operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures smooth operation of daily Box Office functions including accurate daily balancing of Box Office sales in accordance with SMG’s Finance Department; promptly resolves any problems including chargebacks; orders change and maintains Box Office banks; oversees the daily upkeep of the Box Office including filing, cleaning, repairs and maintenance by utilizing Box Office Associates.
  • Ensures accurate and timely daily sales reporting, while maintaining proper confidentiality
  • Creates and maintains monthly box office schedules ensuring accuracy and coverage for all box office shifts
  • Resolves all ticketing problems quickly with a focus on SMG’s policy towards strong customer service;
  • Hires, supervises and trains full and part-time box office staff as part of box office leadership team; ensures proper orientation to SMG policies and standards and Box Office procedures;
  • Maintains and tracks Box Office archives including event records, sales statistics, Box Office deposit and Journal activity archives; develops systems for easily accessing this information as needed;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain files on each event such as production kills, seats on hold, complimentary tickets, event audits and ticket inventory schedule; maintain organized and thorough event files.
  • Monitor events on a consistent basis from event creation until after the show occurs to ensure tickets are selling correctly; correct holds remain in place, inventory control, etc.
  • Verify daily cash reports and prepare seller reports.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service and assure all customer issues are dealt within an efficient and professional manner.
  • Provide accurate scaling to promoters and President/General Manager when requested.
  • Create maps, map changes, promo changes and submit events in the ticketing system in an exact and accurate manner.
  • Communicate accurate event information including ticket pricing, scaling and event configurations to other departments and the Senior Box Office Manager.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with promoters, ticket system representatives, resident companies and artist representatives.
  • Prepare cash banks, daily deposits and cash receipts. Maintaining accurate vault funds and records;
  • Assist with event settlements by preparing accurate reports. Disseminate accurate information and reports to promoters during events.
  • Must be able to work Event Schedule which includes working including nights, weekends, and holidays

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages the Ticket Sellers or other Box Office staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG's policies and applicable laws. Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SMG Richmond is seeking a Group Sales Intern to work closely with Group Sales team for all SMG events within Richmond, VA. This individual should be outgoing, punctual, and should be comfortable talking on the phone. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

SMG Richmond is seeking a Marketing Intern to work closely with our team to design and implement marketing strategies for all SMG events within Richmond, VA. This individual should have a passion for new technology, marketing and social media and applying their skills to the concert industry. 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in development and implementation of local media strategies for SMG Richmond shows
  • Assists in tracking of advertising expenses and promotional tickets
  • Lead street team efforts including: weekly poster runs, database management, job assignments, materials orders, photo and report collection
  • Brokering individual event and annual partnerships with local media and retailers
  • Show coverage for Theatre and Arena shows
  • Processing Invoices, Advertising Summaries, and Promotions Recaps for Theatre and Arena shows
  • Deepen relationships with all media to ensure the most effective messaging and positioning of the organization.
  • Engage other organizations within the community
  • Coordinates and execute creative and strategic social media marketing campaigns across all platforms including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and that engage fans, build venue fan base and raise show awareness.
